Ready to climb aboard the SaleBoat?  This is what you need to know…

Consignors receive 70% of the selling price from each item sold minus a $10 consignors fee, which offsets the cost of advertising and building rental.  The $10 fee is not due up front, but subtracted from your total profits.

Follow these steps:

1.      E-MAIL us to request your consignor number.  Be sure to include your name and phone number in the email.  Your consignor number will consist of the first letter of your last name and an assigned number.  You will use this number when tagging your items.  The deadline for receiving a number for the Fall/Winter sale is September 19th.

2.      SHARE SaleBoat brochures with your friends.  The more shoppers we have, the more of your items we can sell!

3.      MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to drop-off your items.  Appointments will be scheduled for Thursday 9/25 between 5 and 8 PM and Friday 9/26 between 10 AM and 4 PM E-mail us with your preferred time(s) and we will send you an appointment time as close to that as possible.

4.      TAG and price your items.

5.      DROP-OFF items at your scheduled time.  Plan enough time.

·         First, you will check-in and turn in your consignor agreement and self-addressed, stamped envelope.

·         Then your items will be checked for quality.  Anything we find to be unacceptable will be pulled at our discretion.

·         If you have at least 20 acceptable items you will receive a pass to the Pre- Sale.

·        You will take your items and place them in the appropriate section on the sales floor.  Please allow plenty of time for this.  Crewmembers will be there to assist you.

6.      BRING with you to drop-off, a self-addressed stamped envelope (for mailing your payment after the sale) and your signed Consignor Agreement.

7.      SHOP EARLY!  We have two Pre-Sales on Friday. Consignors and Crew members may shop from 6 – 7 PM. If you consign AND work a crew shift, you may shop even earlier, at 5. You will receive a pass to the pre-sale during drop-off. There is a minimum of 20 acceptable items required to earn a pre-sale pass.

8.      PICK UP or donate your unsold items.  Items remaining after the sale will be sorted and ready for pick-up between 1 and 2 PM on Saturday.  Anything left at 2 PM will be donated to the BETA Center.

9.      SIT BACK and wait for your check to arrive in the mail.

8.     Tips

1.    Hanging and folding clothing

·        Fold clothing items costing $2 or less.

·        Hang clothing items costing $3 or more.

·        Place clothing on hanger with hook facing left.

·        Pants and skirts should be secured to hangers with safety pins.

·        Be sure items are SECURE on their hangers.  Add extra pins if needed.  Items won’t sell if they have fallen under the racks.

·        2-piece outfits: Pin the bottoms to the hanger and place the shirt or jacket over top.  If that doesn’t work, place the top on the hanger and pin the bottoms to the back of the top.  Be sure the outfit stays together and on the hanger!

·        Some stores will give you hangers for children’s clothing, and many dry cleaners will give you wire hangers.  The SaleBoat sells hangers with clothing.  We cannot return them to you.

·        Fold individual items and pajamas.

·        Make sure clothing is clean and pressed.

·        Use ONLY colored 3x5 index cards to tag all items.

·        Turn card vertically and print consignor # and size one inch down from the top of the card.

·        Print description (Ex. GAP shirt and shorts, 2 piece set) and price of item in the center of the card.

·        Place a safety pin in the blank area at the top of the card.

·        Safety pin card to the top right side of clothing.

·        When an item sells, the cashier tears off the card beneath the safety pin.  Cards are filed by consignor number and used to determine profits after the sale.

3.    Pricing items

·        A general rule for pricing your item is to figure 30-40% of the original price.  The condition of the item will lower or raise that figure.

·        Use only whole dollar increments (this means no items under $1.00)

4.    Preparing shoes

·        SHOES MUST BE IN GREAT (not good) CONDITION!

·        Bring no more than 5 of your very best pairs. No scuffs. No worn out tennis shoes.

·        Shoes must be securely connected together - zip ties work well. If you are unable to secure shoes together, place them in a ziplock bag.

·        Tag must also be secured to shoes. Attach card to zip tie, or place tag in a ziplock bag that can be attached to shoes.

·        The goal is to keep pairs together with tags securely attached.

5.    Preparing toys, books, videos, large equipment & furniture

·        After filling out your 3x5 index card, place it in a zip-lock bag.

·        Tape the bag securely to the item, leaving the zipper part of the bag untaped.  This will make it easy to take the card out at checkout.

·        Use clear packing tape only.

·        If toys have loose pieces, place the pieces in a zip-lock bag.  Attach the bag to the item as securely as possible.  We cannot be responsible for lost pieces.

·        Items that require batteries MUST have batteries included.

6.    What you may consign with The SaleBoat

$Clothing that is in current style.  Think fall and winter – school clothes, sweaters, jackets, ski clothing, Christmas and other holiday clothing, Halloween costumes…

·       Maternity clothes – current style and season

·       All things baby – furniture, equipment, bedding, strollers, pack-n-plays, etc.

·       Pretend play – dress-up clothes and dolls

·       Only stuffed animals that are electronic and in EXCELLENT, fresh, clean condition

·       Sports equipment in good condition

·       Riding toys and little tykes equipment

·       Toys

·       Puzzles, books, games, videos, CD’s

·       Out of date clothing

·       T-shirts (unless in excellent condition)

·       Toys, equipment or furniture that are broken, damaged or missing parts

·       Car seats more than 5 years old

·       Stuffed animals – unless electronic

7.  Conditions and Limitations

·        Please inspect your items closely before bringing them to the sale.  Ask yourself if you would buy this item again.

·        Make sure toys and equipment are SUPER CLEAN and in working condition.

·       Toys and equipment must include all parts and batteries.

·       No more than 10 of your BEST onesies

·       No more than 10 of your BEST sleepers

·       No more than 5 pairs of your BEST shoes

8.  Tips

·        Wash, iron, starch, button buttons, zip zippers.  This makes a difference!

·       Group items together, they’ll sell better.  (Outfits that go together; 2 shirts, same style and size, different colors)  When possible, put grouped items on the same hanger.  Put the first item on the hanger and attach the other item to the back with safety pins.

·        Styles change, particularly for older children and maternity.  If it was very stylish a few years ago, it won’t sell now.

·        When choosing items for the sale, think “gently used” not “garage sale.”  If you have doubts about something, leave it at home.

·        Don’t forget to make your appointment for drop-off!
